Dr Abdullah Aldaoud, MBBS, SSC-Psych
Dr Abdullah Aldaoud is a well-respected and highly regarded consultant psychiatrist, with over two decades of experience in clinical practice. He has been in many leadership roles across clinical development, training and policy making, including being head of the national committee for mental health and addiction treatment with Saudi Health Council since 2018.
Abdullah obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the King Saud University in 2001. He continued his learning achieving a SSC-Psych from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, a fellowship in mood disorders at the Queen’s University in Canada and then a further fellowship at the University of Toronto for mood and anxiety disorders.
Abdullah has worked in an interpersonal psychotherapy clinical supervision in CAMHS in Toronto. After a four-year psychiatry residency program under the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Supervision at multiple affiliated hospitals, Abdullah has worked more recently as a psychiatry program director at KSUMC and as a consultant psychiatry at KKUH. Within this role, he established treatment refractory depression services, running psychotherapy clinics and establishing primary care psychiatry collaboration services. Abdullah was also involved directly in the development of the psychiatry department as the head of service committee and psychiatry curriculum for medical students as a member of the educational committee.
Abdullah actively participates at many psychotherapy training courses, including fundamental CBT courses, advance trainer and supervisor courses at IPT and MI, and CBASP courses. He has also completed psychoanalysis training at the Tampa Institute for psychoanalytic studies.
Working with adults and children, Abdullah has a wealth of experience and is fluent in both Arabic and English. He uses some of the most pioneering techniques and bespoke approaches to each person, designed to identify and address the individual’s needs and requirements. Abdullah believes that treatment is a collaborative process and one where the client is empowered to achieve their treatment and recovery goals.
