Ms. Mashael Alshalan

Ms. Mashael Alshalan is a licensed clinical psychologist and a United States of America (USA) trained psychotherapist, with over 15 years’ experience in providing cognitive behavioural therapy for children and adults. She also has a master’s degree in clinical psychology obtained at the Valdosta State University, USA, and has been in multiple leadership roles in both training and clinical development.

Working with individual and group psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, Mashael trained in the fields of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other psychotherapy approaches, including behavioural therapy (BT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy (TF-CBT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), solution focus psychotherapy (SFP) and play therapy (PT). 

Mashael’s vast experience includes working as a clinical psychologist at the King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital (NGHA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for 14 years, providing assessment and psychotherapy for children and adults. She has also worked as a lecturer at the King Abdelaziz University.

Mashael has developed and provided a range of therapeutic programs for children, adolescents and their families over the years. She has been a leader and supervisor for the psychologists at the Child Mental Health Department, as well as supervised and trained junior psychologists in the field. In addition, Mashael has worked on various projects in the mental health field within the governmental and private sectors.

A holistic approach to providing care that improves children and adolescent mental health is what Mashael firmly believes in, and she has participated in establishing and developing programs for ADHD, autism and anxiety, to improve the quality of care provided for children and their families. 

Mashael has also participated in conducting a range of research and was a member of the international experts who developed the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health-Children and Youth (ICF-CY) for autism and ADHD. She also actively participates as a speaker in many national conferences and psychotherapy training courses. 

Mashael provides psychotherapy and assessments, parenting consultations, child and adolescent psychotherapy, group and family sessions. Her approach incorporates an empathic, practical, playful and relational approach to psychotherapy with clients and their families.
